As some of you may know, I have now achieved my Post Graduate Certificate in therapeutic Play Skills and am part way through my Diploma which will see me becoming a fully qualified Play Therapist. I always think that my learning journey can only feed positively into the classes that Vital Spark offers and have also completed courses in play itself and an 8 week introduction to mindfulness course which I now practice daily. Today I attended a webinar with the founders of Groove Child (wellbeing syllabus providers for dance schools) which helped me to consider a wellbeing statement for Vital Spark as we return to face to face classes. At the heart of our classes there has always been an environment where playful creativity and joy is encouraged and I feel passionately that the principles which underpin my practice in Play Therapy are echoed in all of the offerings that Vital Spark makes. This statement sets out how we intend to continue with that philosophy in the coming term and beyond. We are also keeping our fingers crossed that we may be able to offer some workshops in the Summer holidays which will be fun and vibrant whilst also helping our young people to repair some of the ruptures of the past year.
Well-Being Statement
At Vital Spark we recognise that we all have a role to play in the Well-Being of young people and that Mental Health is just as important as Physical Health.
We want all of our pupils to feel safe, nurtured, valued and celebrated.
We aim to foster their curiosity, creativity and sense of self as part of their dance/drama training with us.
As part of our well-being focus we will include exercises to help increase resilience, growth mindset and gratitude, all of which have been shown to positively benefit wellbeing.
We will encourage all of our class members to keep a healthy view of themselves by giving them tools to grow as individuals.
It is our aim to enhance every student’s wellbeing alongside their technical training.
As we continue to enhance our own learning around Mental Health we believe that this will be of great benefit to the young people in our classes. Now, more than ever, we all need to feel a sense of support and connection.
We feel it is essential to incorporate elements of mindfulness and creative reflection into all our classes moving forwards, helping build resilience in every student and boost their self-esteem.
Above all, we want every student to know that they are seen and heard and can flourish as individuals in Vital Spark classes and beyond.
We can’t wait to see you!
